In 1860, Albert Mahler opened a dance academy in St. Louis at 3rd and Pine Streets near the present-day Arch. In 1907, Albert built a combined ballroom and family home on Washington Avenue. Thirty-six of the women who were chosen Veiled Prophet Queen have been dance pupils at the Mahler Ballroom. The hard rock maple dance floor is lovely, and there is a full balcony to observe dances on the floor below.
