Helena, AR: 155th Anniversary Reenactment of the Battle of Helena

A replica 32-pdr. gun on a barbette carriage is one of the displays at New Fort Curtis in Helena, AR.

The Delta Cultural Center will sponsor the 155th anniversary reenactment of the Battle of Helena on the historic battlefield in downtown Helena, AR, April 13-15, 2018.

New Fort Curtis, the main event site, is located at 350 Columbia St., in Helena.

The reenactment of the Confederate attack on Fort Curtis is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.  The reenactment of Marmaduke’s advance will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in North Helena Park.  Other activities include programs by Curt Fields portraying Gen. Ulysses S. Grant and an evening musical performance and dance at Kelley Park with music by the Highballers and calls by Josh Williams.  An afternoon ladies’ tea with Julia Fields portraying Julia Dent Grant is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Pillow-Thompson House.
