Company G, 17th Missouri Infantry, the “Western Turner Rifles”, was raised in the Washington, Missouri, area during the early days of the Civil War. Its reenactors have participated in many regional events, as well as national events such as Corinth, Franklin, Wilson’s Creek, Chickamauga, Shiloh, Vicksburg, and Gettysburg. For national events, the unit is affiliated with the Frontier Brigade, 1st Federal Division.
