Vicksburg, MS: Living history at Stockade Redan, Vicksburg National Military Park
The Vicksburg National Military Park in Vicksburg, Mississippi, hosted a living history event May 20-22, 2016, recreating the efforts of the Volunteer Storming Party, assisting the National Park Service in their efforts to interpret the 153rd anniversary of the Siege of Vicksburg. Reenactors, including members of the Turner Brigade, recreated scenes of camp life, performed picket duty, and assembled the assault ladders and bridging materials required to storm Stockade Redan.
The highlight of the weekend was a simulation of the assault on Stockade Redan with the assembled materials, a charge of approximately 440 feet carrying the ladders and bridging materials that were built by the reenactors.

Troops cut wood to fabricate scaling ladders for the reenactment of the assault on Stockade Redan at the Vicksburg National Military Park May 21, 2016.
