St. Louis, MO: Sherman Day Ceremony at Calvary Cemetery

Brigade members joined with the Ulysses S. Grant Camp #68, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, in their annual Sherman Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at the chapel in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday, March 30, 2025. Threatening weather caused the ceremony to be moved indoors from the William T. Sherman family gravesite. Following the Sherman ceremony, attendees went to the nearby gravesite of Dred Scott, where Lynne Jackson, great granddaughter of Dred Scott, told the story of the monument that now marks his grave. The annual Sherman ceremony, begun by the former William T. Sherman/Billy Yank Camp #65, SUVCW, in St. Louis, has continued under the sponsorship of the Ulysses S. Grant Camp #68 in St. Louis since the Sherman Camp closed at the end of 2017.
