St. Louis, MO: Capt. Blandowski Ceremony at St. Stanislaus Church

The William T. Sherman/Billy Yank Camp #65 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War sponsored a dedication ceremony honoring Captain Constantin Blandowski on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at St. Stanislaus Church in St. Louis, MO. Captain Blandowski was the first Union officer to be mortally wounded in the Civil War, which occurred during the Camp Jackson Affair in St. Louis, in May 1861. Because of Blandowski’s Polish heritage, St. Stanislaus Church co-sponsored the event. The event included a small living history display on the church grounds.
