Turners at Harney Days 2018

Company M Sgt. Damon Sumpter shows his collection of Civil War artillery projectiles to a spectator at the Harney Days living history in Sullivan, MO, September 1, 2018.

The Harney Mansion Festival, a one-day living history event, will be held at the Harney Mansion in Sullivan, Missouri, on Saturday, August 31, 2019. The event is a commemoration of Gen. William S. Harney, commander of the St. Louis Arsenal in early 1861, who was a Sullivan resident for a period.

Besides Civil War activities, demonstrations and presentations will include a display of panels depicting the history and development of Franklin County in celebration of the county’s bicentennial, mid-19th century weapons and artifacts, and vintage tools and implements. A Ben Franklin presenter will attend. For children, the community arts bus and a petting zoo will be there also. An 11 a.m. ceremony will open the newly-constructed west entrance portico on the house.
