Springfield, IL: Old State Capitol Living History

The Illinois Old State Capitol sponsored the annual Civil War Medical Encampment at the Old State Capitol State Historic Site in Springfield, IL, June 7-9, 2013. Civilian programs, music programs, military displays, and other presentations were presented inside and outside the Capitol building. Topics included period medical procedures, women nurses, women as soldiers, embalming, mourning customs and field music.
